PEACE DAYton Collaborative Group is an initiative of over 100 organizations that are contributing to a culture of peace in Dayton and the Miami Valley. Participate in any or all of the wonderful activities planned by PEACE DAYton over four weekend in September 2018! See details below or at www.peacedayton.org/calendar! Thursday, September 6: A RECEPTION FOR THE PUBLIC (with refreshments) will be held from 4;30 - 7:30 pm. in the Opportunity Room at the Dayton Metro Library. Hosted by Mont. Co. Commissioner Debbie Lieberman, the event will have special guests from Wright Patterson AFB - officers who have been on the ground delivering humanitarian aid in dozens of disaster area. (Exhibit will be open all September during library hours.) Friday, September 21, 2018: Greater Dayton Christian Connections is sponsoring an Interfaith Prayer Luncheon on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 138 W. First Street, Dayton. Cost is $25.00; boxed lunches are included and provided by Dayton Cooks. Ambassador Tony Hall is the Keynote Speaker with Hall Hunger Initiative. WESTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH’S FAITH & CIVIC LIFE: The Reverend Jim Wallis will present Westminster Presbyterian Church’s Lecture on Faith & Civic Life at the church on Friday, Sept. 28 from 7-9:30 pm. Jim Wallis is president and founder of Sojourners in Washington, DC, a non-profit faith-based organization, network, and movement whose mission statement calls for “putting faith into action for social justice.” Wallis is a bestselling author, public theologian, national preacher, social activist, and international commentator on ethics and public life. Two of his more recent books, The (Un)Common Good and America’s Original Sin, will form the basis for the Friday night lecture and Saturday morning (Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m.) panel discussion. A panel, composed of area faith and civic leaders, will share the stage with Mr. Wallis at that Saturday morning event, also at Westminster. Free / open to the public.

DAYBREAK: Champions for Youth Breakfast (8-9 am)/Luncheon (noon-1 pm) on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at The Mandalay Banquet Center, 2700 East River Road, Dayton, OH 45439. Call 937-395-4600 ext. 112 with questions or to reserve your seat. Daybreak promises that the hour you spend will be powerful, inspirational, educational, and fun. The program includes a video presentation and personal remarks by a Daybreak youth. There's no charge to attend, however everyone will be asked to consider making a donation at the end of the program. No one will be pressured to give. As much as anything, Daybreak wants people to come learn more about Daybreak. Volunteer table captains are enlisted to fill tables of 10 with their friends, family, and colleagues. A table captain’s obligation is fill their table and make sure their guests know that the events are fundraisers. Table captains do not have to ask their guests to make a donation. For more information about being a table captain or a sponsor please call Lisa Fry: 937-395-4600 ext. 112.
